CODE OF ETHICS FOR SOCIAL WORK PRACTITIONERS

1. The National Association of Social Work (NASW)  is the source for the code of ethics for professional social workers.

2. Professional boundaries only apply when there is a dual relationship?

3. It is never appropriate to use self-disclosure in a professional setting.

4. When a worker has a conflict of interest or a dual relationship with a client they only need to inform their supervisor if a problem occurs.

5. Providing support systems is the primary role of a social worker.

6. Roy is a social worker. He is interested in dating one of his clients, but has been told this might violate the NASW code of ethics. In this case, getting into a sexual relationship with a client could violate the ethical standards related to Roy's responsibilities to clients.

7. Carolina is a social worker. She has noticed that one of the other social workers has begun acting unethically. Carolina's supervisor tells her that she needs to intervene because she has a responsibility as a professional

8. Maintaining professional boundaries is the responsibility of the social worker and the client.
