Anatomical position is a person standing upright, with their palms facing backwards.
This direction means above something else, going up towards the head:
This direction means below something else, going down towards the feet.
This direction means towards the front of the body.
This direction means towards the back of the body.
This term means towards the middle, or midline, of the body.
This term means towards the sides of the body, away from the midline or middle.
The axial parts of the body includes the arms and legs (limbs)
The appendicular parts of the body are the head, neck and trunk (trunk means torso, which includes your back, abdomen or belly, and your chest.)
This term is the direction on the arms and legs going AWAY from the trunk or torso (back, belly and chest.) Such as your toes being far away from where your leg attaches to your hip.
This term is the direction on the arms and legs going TOWARDS the trunk or torso (back, belly and chest.) For example, where your arm attaches to your shoulder.
Supine means laying on your back, face up.
Prone means laying on your belly, face down.
This direction means towards the surface of your skin. Closer to the outside of your body.
This direction means going towards the inside your body, away from the surface of your skin. Such as where your heart is.
