ENG8: Examining Biases in a Reading Text

Determine if the author in each paragraph is biased towards or against the topic of the paragraph.

Of all my subjects this year, English 8 is the best! No other subject is better than this subject. In English, we read, listen, or watch many kinds of materials. We also perform drama, recite poems, and even sing songs. Also, our English teacher, Mrs. Cruz is the best teacher.

Reading books is really a hard thing to do. It is also a very boring activity! That is why I find it hard to understand people who love reading books. I believe they do not have any other good thing to do so they just read. I also find readers as boring people.

When it comes to work, the Generation X (people who are 40 years old and above) are the best. They are all hardworking, serious, and dedicated to their jobs. They also have a lot of experience already. They make the best teachers, supervisors, office workers, and managers.

The young generation is really the worst! They sleep late at night and wake up very late. They always listen to very loud music. Also, they do nothing, are lazy, and like to waste their time in front of their smartphones or tablets playing online games or watching videos nonstop!

Title: Road accident in Brgy.San Isidro injures 2

A road accident in one of the busy streets in Barangay San Isidro last night, December 01, 2020, injured two pedestrians. The two pedestrians, Bert Santos, 21, and Reiner Cruz, 25, are now being treated for minor leg injuries at the San Isidro General Hospital. The irresponsible female driver, an office worker named Annie Cruz, said she did not see the two crossing because she was talking to someone on the phone. This accident only shows that female drivers really encounter more accidents than male drivers.
