Long, fictional stories that are usually written in prose.

Fictional works that tell a complete story in about 500 to 1,500 words. This story has a clear beginning, middle, and end.

A story about exciting quests or missions. Usually the main character has to overcome great obstacles.

A fictional story about a real event or person in history. Sometimes things are dramatized or even made up.

A brief tale that teaches a moral lesson. The characters include animals, people, and nonliving objects.

A story that takes place in another world that usually contains amazing creatures and magic.

A folktale based on real events. Stories that have been passed down for so long some information may be true, but some information may not be true.

A story in which the characters face a problem that seems to be beyond explanation. Suspense or terror plays a big part of the suspense.

A story with mystical characters and events, sometimes joined with religious beliefs or rituals. It tries to explain some natural event or fact.

This story takes place in a world much like the real world the characters are invovled in events that could really happen.

This story uses science facts, theories, or beliefs to interpret the future, other planets and dimensions or time travel.
