How do you differentiate a house from home? House is a physical structure made of different materials, which protect the family from outside elements like rain, heat of the sun, and such other factors that cause harm to the family living in it. It is usually made of various materials like nipa, bamboo, wood, cement, tiles, and marble. A house is considered a home when there is spiritual guidance, security, and sense of belonging among the members of the family. Therefore, a home is where the family resides with an atmosphere of respect, love, and harmony. Can you tell now, is your house a home? Personal cleanliness means attending to your personal hygiene regularly, thus keeping your body free from bad odor and infectious diseases. In keeping your body clean, you have to use grooming aids discussed in previous module. Remember that to achieve a clean and healthy body you need to practice good grooming habits as well as good healthy habits. Your Body Regular care of the body is necessary for good health and pleasing appearance. As you grow, you should learn to be responsible to your self. You should never neglect your body. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. That is why , if you take good care of your body, you are in effect taking care of the place where the Holy Spirit resides. You are the “masterpiece of God’s creation” which means to say that you are above all other creations of God. So, it is best to maintain your body clean and healthy. For your own good and in so doing, you are showing your reverence to God, our creator. “Rule of Thumb” to keep your body clean is to take a regular bath. Taking a bath is necessary to remove dust, germs, as well as dirt accumulated from your daily activities. It is invigorating for the act of cleansing stimulates blood circulation. Full bath It includes washing, shampooing the hair, soaping the whole body and rinsing with clear water. It is a thorough cleansing of the body. 2. Shower A shower bath usually takes a shorter time than full bath. A wash clothe or sponge with thick lather is rub all over the body starting from the navel, then the thigh, joints, armpits, and the rest of the body. Then rinse your body in the shower and pat your body dry with clean towel 3. Sponge bath Use wash cloth or face towel with soap, soak in warm or cold water. Rub it briskly over the body. Rinse the cloth with clean water then use it to remove soap from the body. A sponge bath is usually given to a sick person.

It can help us do our work easier and faster through the use of different appliance or machines. Have you experienced brownout? Do you know why this happens? Brownout happens when there is a loss of electrical power in a specific area. To prevent this from happening, we must conserve electrical energy. How can we do that? Below is a list of ways on how we can conserve electricity. Read and understand it carefully. Ways of Conserving Electrical Energy at Home 1. Turn off and unplug electrical appliance when not in use. 2. Replace old bulbs with energy saving fluorescent bulbs. 3. Clean or dust your fluorescent lamp to give more light. 4. Turn off the light when leaving your room. 5. Avoid frequent opening of your refrigerator’s door. 6. Iron clothes once a week in the cooler part of the day. 7. Wash clothes using washing machine once a week. 8. Limit yourself to two hours of computer use a day. 9. Avoid using the microwave oven very often

Yes, it is said that man can live for three days without food but not without water. Our cells will not be healthy if there’s no water. What do you feel when you are thirsty? Can you concentrate on the things that you are doing when you are thirsty? How about when you did not take a bath, how do you feel? Can you sleep at night comfortably without taking a bath? These are some things that remind us how important water is to us. So we need to learn to conserve it for us to enjoy it longer and for us to have enough supply of water for a long period of time. How can we participate in water conservation? Here’s how… Ways of Conserving Water 1. Turn off the faucet when not in use. Make sure it is tightly close. 2. When brushing teeth, use a glass to avoid wasting water. 3. When washing dishes, use enough water by using a basin. 4. When you observed that you water pipe is leaking, call a plumber immediately to fix it and avoid water from leaking. Do not throw garbage or trash on the different sources of water. 8. Use watering can in watering plants to avoid excessive use of water. 9. Recycle used water. We can use water from the washing machine to clean our windows, comfort room and even our car. What are the things that you do at home that can help conserve water? Very good!
