"America is suffering from overwork. Too many of us are too busy, trying to squeeze more into each day while having less to show for it. Although our growing time crunch is often portrayed as a personal dilemma, it is, in fact, a major social problem that has reached crisis proportions over the past twenty years."
(Barbara Brandt, "Whole Life Economics:Revaluing Daily Life." New Society, 1995)
Writing is a complex socio cognitive process involving the construction of recorded messages on paper or on some other material, and, more recently, on a computer screen. The skills needed to write range from making the appropriate graphic marks, through utilizing the resources of the chosen language, to anticipating the reactions of the intended readers. The first skill area involves acquiring a writing system, which may be alphabetic (as in European languages) or non alphabetic (as in many Asian languages). The second skill area requires selecting the appropriate grammar and vocabulary to form acceptable sentences and then arranging them in paragraphs. Third, writing involves thinking about the purpose of the text to be composed and about its possible effects on the intended readership. One important aspect of this last feature is the choice o fa suitable style. Because of these characteristics, writing is not an
innate natural ability like speaking but has to be acquired through years of training or schooling (Swales & Feak, 1994, p. 34).
On the other hand, some people say that rock music contains lyrics that are both provocative and rebellious. This point of view makes sense because in the article it states that “one form of rock music, punk rock, concentrates purely on anti social subjects as a basis for its songs”. However, rock music itself is not enough to make a teenager rebel against society because the article also says that the average teenager does not take it seriously and concentrates more on the musical value of the songs rather than the inner meaning of the lyrics. Therefore, even though lyrics in rock and roll music show hints of anarchy and social rebellion, it is not a threat to society.

My Favorite Family Experience
One of my favorite family experiences was when I went to see Anne Frank’s (a Jewish victim of the Nazi persecution during World War II)hideout in Amsterdam, Holland. I had read Anne’s published diary when I was younger, so I was extremely thrilled to actually have the chance to see where she and her family hid from the Germans for so many months. I walked up the stairs of an apartment building and into a room with only a bookshelf in it. From what I remembered from reading the diary, there was a doorknob behind the books. I found the doorknob and turned it and there was the secret annex. When I stepped into the room behind the bookshelf, I felt as if I had stepped back into history. I found Anne’s room still with pictures of her favorite celebrities on her walls. The Frank family’s furniture was still placed where they had left them in the rooms, everything just as described in the diary. I toured each room in awe of actually seeing how they had lived, yet with sadness to know how it all ended. Anne’s diary was no longer just a book to me, but true heart-felt, emotional life story written by a girl I felt I almost knew.

School uniforms are good for the development of children. First of all, everyone is dressed unified. So no one has "better" clothes than others and no one can threaten others only because of their clothes. In many schools ganging up on others because of what they are wearing is already normal and uniforms are away to protect the children from such acts. School uniforms also keep everyone from having to buy expensive brands of clothes to be part of the society, which relieves especially the parents and takes the pressure of being "cool" away from the children. School uniforms also helps to put off children being overly concerned about keeping up with the latest fashions. This gives young children more time to concentrate on more important developmental things. Of course, there are also critics, who say that school uniforms make the children lose their own individuality but in general it is possible to say, that school uniforms have a good influence on most children.
Three Types of Planets
People often think all planets are alike, but there are actually three types of planets in the solar system. The terrestrial planets are made of rock and metal and are closest to the sun. These include the midsize planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. They rotate slowly and don’t have many moons. Farther from the sun are the planets called gas giants, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.T hey are called gas giants because they are formed from gases such as hydrogen and helium. Gas giants rotate fast and have many moons. Finally, planetoids are objects made up of rock and ice and are too small to be true “planets.” Planetoids sometimes even get pulled into a planet’s gravitational field and become moons themselves. Whether they are terrestrials, gas giants, or planetoids, the planets in the solar system are fascinating.
Real Life Issues On Talk Shows
Most TV talk shows depict important life issues with real personal stories. TV shows such as Montel and Maury have produced hundreds of shows relating to teen violence, suicide, unsolved murders of family members, AIDS and hate crimes. People affected by these issues and more write to Monte land other talk shows about their situations so they can share with others their experiences with hope of helping someone else. I recently viewed a show on Montel about an unsolved murder. One of the guests spoke about the worst day of her life, the day her financee' was shot and killed while at work by a random gunman and how it affected her life. Many people in the U.S. are affected by these types of issues and suffer in silence due to their belief that nobody cares. Those affected by these social issues will continue to be victims without TV talk shows such as these. For the most part, TV shows provide an important view on today's issues and how they affect everyday people.

Tell what type of speech is used in this scenario?
When you would be asked to say a few words or a toast at any kind of gathering, be it among your friends, family members, colleagues, or company.
Read the sample speech below .What typeof speech is this?
Good morning one and all present here. I am standing before you all to share my thoughts through my speech about life. Life is a continuous ongoing process that has to end someday. Life is all about adoring yourself, creating yourself. A quote for you that life can be only understood backward but it must be lived forwards. Life itself is a golden opportunity to live a meaningful life and support others to do so. It doesn’t matter how many years you live. But it matters how well you live a quality life.
The fear of death always threatens our lives. Every person has discourage us from living life to the fullest or achieving our goals. A person is wise only when he/she is ready to meet destiny when it comes, but until that time enjoys every bit of it. It is a sense of readiness. It is a journey in everyone’s life wherein we have to cross the bridge of death to be able to wakeup to a life eternal.
Human life – A very Precious Gift
Human life is truly a very precious gift. Each moment of human life carries us an opportunity, to act to develop and express our virtues. Every moment unlocks the path to us to receive blessings. This is the truth that life gives us both positive and negative situations. What is really important is how we react.
Life is the gift of God in the form of trust that we will make it meaningful in whatever we can. We are all unique individuals. No one is born like you and no one will ever be, so cherish your individuality. Many times, I come across people accusing God of things that they don’t have. They always cursing their lives. But, do they realize that this life itself is precious? If we make it worth living and work hard towards positivity.
Life is a Journey,not a Destination
Life is nothing but a journey with lessons, hardships, heartache and special moments. It will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose in life. The road will not always be a plane; in fact, throughout our travels, we will face many challenges.
These challenges will always test our courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along our way, we may encounter obstacles that will come between the paths and we are destined to take.
In order to be on the right path, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are really blessings in disguise, only we don’t understand that at the time. The secret of life is best known to those who are not attached to anything deeply so much.
Therefore, they remain out of touch with worries and shifting fortunes of their lives. They are the people who do not measure their lives in terms of materialistic possessions, but by measuring their lives in terms of people they cannot live without.
Conclusion
Lastly, I will conclude that we should make life worthwhile. It should be with the love of our family and friends that life can be made beautiful. Life can be more beautiful and purposeful by discharging our duties in our family, at work, society and the world at large.
Thanks!
