A report should be formal and impersonal. It is not usually necessary to use I, using the passive is more appropriate.

A report needs a title, and must start with an introduction and finish with a conclusion. These paragraphs must be introduced with a heading.Â
Is this statement true? The introduction should explain the purpose of the report with a sentence like, This report shows/outlines…
Is this statement true? After the introducion there should also be two or three paragraphs containing information and these must also have a heading.Â
Is this statement true? Ideally, in the main body, you should use a heading which shows what the subject of the paragraph is, such as orders, prices, new markets. You can take the headings from the notes or the graphs/tables.
Is this statement true? You can also write Findings as a heading for the main body in a report because this gives a general idea of the topic.
Is this statement true? The conclusion should summarise the content of the report including positive and negative information using the same words as in your report.

CONTENT = This focuses on how well you have fulfilled the task, in other words, if you have done what you were asked to do. Did you write the right task and used the right information.
COMMUNICATIVE ACHIEVEMENT =This focuses on how appropriate the writing is for the task, and whether you have used the appropriate register. Is it formal or informal, depending on the task? Do you use the right tone?Â
ORGANISATION = This focuses on the way you put together the piece of writing, in other words, if it is logical and ordered. Do you use linking words and reference words?Â
LANGUAGE = This focuses on vocabulary and grammar. It includes the range of language as well as how accurate it is. Do you use a variety of vocabulary?
