"Tina!" Mom called. "Finish cleaning your room! Your grandmother will be here soon."
Tina raced upstairs. She grabbed the last of her clothes off the floor and threw them in her closet. She was supposed to have finished cleaning yesterday. Then Mike. Tina loved basketball, so she put off her cleaning for another day.
Now, Tina was frantically trying to make her room look clean. She picked up books, toys, shoes, and stuffed animals. Everything went into the closet. Tina thought about taking the time to really clean up, but then she heard footsteps on the stairs. Make sure her room was spotless. Tina grabbed the last sneaker off the floor and threw it into the closet. She had to push hard to close the door.
"Nice job, Tina," Mom. "This room looks almost like I had cleaned it myself." Tina smiled. "You left your basketball out," Mom said. "Here, I will put it in your closet, where it goes."
Mom walked across the room before Tina could say anything. "Mom, I've got it," Tina started to say. But Mom was already at the closet. She turned the knob, and pulled the door open.
Clothes, books, toys, and shoes. Formed at Mom's feet. She did not look happy.
