Rock, Paper, Scissors
It was not Shelley’s luck the person she liked the least in all of seventh grade was her partner for the history demonstration project…Lucas! They were supposed to come up with a project about a crucial invention in history.
“So, what should we do?” Shelley asked Lucas.
“I don’t know,” Lucas said. “I don’t have any ideas.”
Shelley got so mad that she took a pair of scissors and snipped up their project instruction sheet. “Here!” she said, throwing the pieces at him.
Lucas didn’t get mad. Instead, he brushed the cut-up pieces of paper off his jacket and grinned. “You gave me a good idea, Shelley. Let’s do the history of paper. Paper was first invented in China almost 2,000 years ago.”
“How do you know that?” Shelley asked.
“My dad makes special paper for artists. He has lots of books about it and supplies to make it. It’s fun and easy!”
“That’s a great idea,” Shelley said. “Let’s write down what we need and get started tomorrow.”
“Okay,” Lucas said. “But first, you’d better ask the teacher for another project sheet since you cut this one into little pieces.”
