When we communicate to regulate or control someone or something, it is because of two reasons: first, we want to meet our own needs or desires, and second, we try to control the actions of other people.
In this function of communication, the individual communicates not only to meet his/her own desires and needs but also to socially interact with the people around him. With this function, an individual is able to establish the "self-esteem”, and learn to execute appropriate social behaviors like respecting, greeting, sharing and refusing politely
it is the process of which we try to initiate, guide, and maintain goal-oriented behaviors. It is the drive to act or do something to improve performance. Some examples of motivation function are demonstrated when we encourage an individual to do something or to make something more likely to happen by showing him his strength, praising, recognizing his effort, believing in him, showing appreciation and being a positive role model.
Communication is the process of giving and exchanging information from one person to another. It is true that our general purpose to communicate is to give and get information.
Open communication is essential to bring harmony and unity in a group. When using this function, an individual is able use communication as an avenue for expression of emotions and attainment of social needs.

These are the natural or environmental condition that act as a barrier in communication in sending the message from sender to receiver.
These pertain to communication problems encountered by people regarding their intrinsic values, beliefs, and traditions in conflict with others. People's culture affect the way they communicate and relate to others.
These are called as mental barriers. These refers to social and personal issues of speakers towards communicating with others.
These pertain conflicts with regards to language and word meaning. Because words carry denotative and connotative meanings, they can sometimes cause confusion and misunderstanding. Meaning of words and symbols also vary depending on culture.
This is when people of different cultural identity and background interact and communicate with one another and this communication is influenced by their ethnicity, religion , gender, age and social status.
occurs when people fail to recognize distinctions among cultures or consider them to be irrelevant; when they reject the claim that cultural differences exist or that they can be meaningful and consequential; or when they perceive people from different cultures in simplistic, undifferentiated, and often self-serving ways.

it is delivered on the spot without prior preparation, but there is a specific topic to be answered at the spur of the moment. this is done inside the classroom , in a meeting and in other social gatherings where in you are asked to give your opinions and share your ideas to the group. this refers to the individual presentation or group interaction .it is usually short and casual.
in this type of oral text, the speaker can present information without using notes. it does not require the speaker to carry note cards around the stage. in other words, oral statement is written down and delivered.
is also called a read speech where in a speaker puts down his ideas into writing before the oral presentation. here, the writer has an ample time to edit, revise, conceptualize and choose the better topic that would appropriate to the audience. in other words, this is a prepared speech.
it is planned and delivered by the speaker on a particular topic with the help of few or no notes. there is an outline of ideas used. it is not written entirely word for word and there is no manuscript to read from. which means, there is little preparation on it with guidelines to follow like introduction, bodywear in the elaboration of the topics are expound and of course the final or the closing statement which is conclusion

this refers to the independent work of a speaker who conveys or presents ideas and information relevantly.

We should employ suitable language in the environment or occasion (i.e., whether formal or informal).
Speakers who are found to be credible speakers usually use simple yet concise words. Conciseness can be achieved with use of more direct words. The use of fillers and unimportant expressions which do not add to the message should be avoided, such as “uh,” “you know,” “I guess,” and others.
We are encouraged to find ways to charm our audience through the use of vivid words because words that vividly or creatively describe things or feelings usually add color and spice to communication.
We should use carefully chosen words in consideration of the gender, roles, ethnicity, preferences, and status of the person or people we are talking to.
It is essential for us to clearly state our message and express our ideas and feelings because meanings of words, feelings, or ideas may be interpreted differently by a listener.
