Katherine Anne Porter was born in Texas in 1890. She did not go to college, but she read many books. Porter wrote many short stories, but people wanted her to write a book. Her first book took twenty years to write. It was entitled, Ship of Fools. It was a best seller, and was later made into a Hollywood movie.
