
The Scarf Lola loved knitting. She made a scarf. Lola’s mum helped her. The scarf was long and warm. “It’s a good scarf”, Lola said. Her friend came to play. It was a cold day. Lola put on her scarf. “What a cold day”, Lola said. The girl looked at Lola’s scarf. “What a long scarf”, the girl said. “I made it. I couldn’t stop knitting.”, Lola said. The children went to the park. They went to the pond. The pond was frozen. It had ice on it. A boy ran up. He pulled Lola’s scarf. “Stop it!”, Lola said. “Stop it”, Mom said. He went on the ice. It was dangerous. “Get off. The ice is not safe”, Mom said. Lola’s mum couldn’t get the boy. She couldn’t go on the ice. Everyone was frightened. Lola had a good idea. She took off her scarf. “Make a rope”, Lola said. Lola's mum made a rope. She made it out of scarves and coats. She threw it to the boy. Everyone pulled the rope. They pulled the boy out of the pond. The boy was safe. “Hooray”, the boy was safe. “I’m sorry”, the boy said. “Ice is dangerous”, Lola said. Lola looked at her scarf. “I’m glad I made it long”, Lola said.
