What are the three branches of government
The Judicial Branch consists of the U.S. Supreme Court and is responsible for interpreting the Constitution.
The Judicial Branch can declare laws or actions of the president unconstitutional and serve as a check on the Legislative and Executive Branches of government
What areĀ the three levels of government?
The local level of government is responsible for local matters that only impact things at a local level like a city, county, township, school district, etc. An example of this would be managing the local school district.
The system of checks and balances works to ensure that no branch of government is too powerful
Each branch of the government has been granted specific duties, authorities, and powers in order to serve as a ācheckā on the other two branches and ensure a ābalanceā of power amongst the branches so that none of the three are more powerful than the other two
